    A new range from Magnet

    Shaker-style kitchens have always been en vogue and there’s something nice and warming about their simplicity. Having teamed up with interior designer Anna Ryder Richardson of Changing Rooms fame, Magnet have launched a new range called Somerton, which consists of three different colour variations that you can mix and match to personalise your scheme.

    First off, there’s Somerton Fern, which has a lovely rich, earthy green tone to it and a slightly grained finish.

    Next up, Somerton Sage, which is a lighter shade of green with a soft-grey undertone.

    Lastly Somerton Oak, with a natural solid wood finish. Somerton is part of the highly-crafted Uniquely Magnet, range, and is available in store now.

    ‘These kitchens are such a timeless design and they look like they’re going to last,’ comments Anna. ‘Somerton Fern is my favourite out of the three and you could easily change its look to make it more modern or really traditional. It’s a winner!’

    We caught up with Magnet to find out their predictions for kitchen trends in 2013…

    * Metallics – ultra glossy, stunning metallics are set to be big next year.

    * Top Tech – pop-up gadgets will be the norm, from iPads to knife blocks and TVs.

    * Streamline – handleless kitchens will continue to be popular

    * Colours – sophisticated grey, blue and green are the predicted shades.

    * Energy saving – green is the new black for appliances, helping the environment and your household bills!

    Kitchen Jubilee

    Jubilee weekend is almost here – are you excited yet? We certainly are, and over the past weeks we’ve seen all manner of British-related paraphernalia, from bunting to crockery, tea towels to aprons. So, as a parting gift this friday, we wanted to share Magnet‘s patriotic  kitchen mock-up with you.

    This kitchen may not be available to buy complete with the Union Jack and Queen’s head design, but the white, hi-gloss Neve cabinetry is, and you could easily incorporate the British flag some other way – as a splashback for example, such as this one from Topps Tiles.

    Shaker three ways

    We love a good afternoon tea at Beautiful Kitchens. Which is why we were more than happy to talk to design guru and all-round makeover queen Anna Ryder-Richardson over cucumber sandwiches and scones about her latest project with Magnet giving their new Savannah kitchen three fab looks.

    Ripe for dressing up, the Savannah is a vanilla Shaker-style design with a hi-gloss finish. See what you think of Anna’s three kitchen schemes (each accomplished on a budget of less than £3,300 including all cabinetry, appliances and worktops).

    My Magnet moodboard

    Seeing so many BEAUTIFUL kitchens here everyday, you’d think I’d either have a) a beautiful kitchen of my own, or b) a clear idea of what I’d like. I’m sorry to say that neither is true. So when I found out about Magnet‘s new online scrapbook idea, I thought I’d give it a try and see if it really would help me create my dream kitchen.

    ‘My Kitchen Scrapbook‘ is a new concept where you can ‘collect’ images of your favourite cabinetry, appliances and surfaces, and then create your own online moodboard. You can either add your own images, or use Magnet’s collection and it really does help you to work out what things go with what and what does and doesn’t look good together.

    I started off with black cabinetry and went from there. I hadn’t actually realised up until that point that it was a glass splashback that I was after, and that I am definitely in need of some open shelving for displaying favourite items. See below for my finished scheme…

    Uploading the images takes no more than a click of your mouse and the fun bit for me was designing the moodboard – adjusting image sizes and swapping them round until you get a look you love – it’s easy to do and gives you a feel for how professional interior designers must put together a finished scheme. You can even have a nose at other people’s moodboards!

    New for 2011

    If you’re on the lookout for a new kitchen but want something a little different, then you may want to pop into Magnet and check out two of its latest designs.

    Due out on Boxing Day, my personal favourite is the new Studio Spectrum kitchen. This white design features toughened glass inserts on the doors, available in 10 different colours, so you can mix and match or stick to one colour, and swap them if you fancy a change. With acid brights set to be a big trend in 2011, this kitchen is sure to go down a storm.

    Another bright design is the Orbitz kitchen, with curved worktops, clear acrylic handles and a funky retro-inspired pattern. The eye-catching pattern on the doors can be featured as much or as little as you like, so you can tailor-make your own design.

    Magnet-ism!

    Katie, a PR from Magnet, has just been in to see us to talk about new kitchen trends. Oak, cream and white schemes, such as its best-selling Shaker Cream design, still have their sway with the British public it seems, but it’s also refreshing to hear that patterns and textures are soon to be the next big thing, fresh from Europe. What was even more exciting to hear about was Magnet’s new blog, full of ideas and must-have gadgets. Well worth a visit.
