• The big idea: unusual kitchen storage

The right storage is key to a successful design, but as this kitchen proves, storage isn’t only a practical consideration – it can be a style statement in itself too. I’m always on the lookout for clever kitchen storage ideas so when I spotted these wall shelves constructed from copper piping, I did a double take.

Bespoke shelving made from copper piping definitely isn’t something you see everyday, and here it adds an on-trend industrial edge to the contemporary handleless kitchen cabinets and glossy white splashbacks. I’m not quite sure what a plumber would say when you hire them to do this job, though!

There’s unusual storage in the dining area too, with these asymmetrical floating box shelves, used to display crockery and glassware.

So what do you think? Quirky kitchen design at its best, or just one step too far?

I like the copper piping – but love the units
